treatment outside the ordinary.
(b) TSUN WAN: If we are to avoid being substantially
out of pocket on the move it is essential that we recover our
expenditure on Tsun Wan. On the assumption that the Government
desire to see us move to Yau Tong (and it is only on this
assumption that the move will take place) could we reckon on
the Government taking over our existing Contract at Tsun Wan?
For your information on the basis of the Contract already signed
the total all-in cost, including sea walls, reclamation, cost
of land, etc., comes out at approximately $429,100 or $0.201 per
sq. ft.
(c) To enable us to go further into the question of
the cost of reclamation at Yau Tong we should like your
permission for ourselves and/or possible Contractors to carry
out any tests required concerning the nature of the soil,
including a survey of the district. Further, a nullah will
be required to take the storm water from the hill land behind
the reclamation and we shall be pleased if you will give us
your recommendation as to the cross sectional area of the
nullah required.
In conclusion we should very much like to take this
opportunity of thanking you for the ready help you have given
us and for the trouble to which you have already gone in
connection with this matter.
We have the honour to be, Sir,
Your obedient servants,
For THE ASIATIC PETROLEUM COMPANY(S.C.)LTD.,
J. K. Bousfield.
Dict:JKB/DC.
The Hon. The Director of Public Works,
Hong Kong.
